Join me for one-to-one Pilates and movement sessions completely focused on your goals and needs.
-
Maybe you're recovering from injury and would like to help to get back to full strength?
-
Perhaps you have a specific fitness goal you need help achieving?
-
Or maybe group exercise environments are just not your thing and you'd like to have a teacher focused on you while you learn?
-
Find out what all the buzz is about - Reformer Pilates is all over social media! The variable springs can either be used to support and help or to challenge. This means that they are suitable for almost anyone to use - someone with limited mobility and strength can feel supported and safe to start exercising, while someone who is already athletic can be given very challenging strength, mobility and balance moves to practise.
-
I can include massage, release techniques, breathwork and corrective exercise to improve your quality of movement.
-
I can set you homework to help you achieve your goals faster.
Simon's story:
Simon is a keen kayaker but was struggling to achieve a roll. I developed an targeted programme for him to work on his core strength, back mobility and rotational ability and after a few weeks he was able to achieve his goal.
Simon said: "I liked the way that the exercises built over the 10 weeks and certainly some of the things I can do now I wouldn’t have even believed possible at the beginning."

Why Choose me?
I am a comprehensively trained Pilates Therapist – but what does that mean?

A Pilates Therapist has a sound background and understanding of the Pilates Method - a whole-body system of exercise and movement developed by Joseph Pilates which aims to strengthen and tone muscles, improve posture, increase flexibility and balance and unite the body and mind.

The comprehensive part means we are trained to use all the large Pilates equipment, such as the reformer, as well as matwork.
The therapist part means we can employ some of the objective screens used in physiotherapy, osteopathy and sports therapy. We have a deeper understanding of anatomy, biomechanics and the nervous system which helps us identify what drives issues. We can then use techniques such as nerve glides, trigger pointing, massage, muscle energy techniques and kinesiotaping which can assist in improving movement and make Pilates more effective.

Pilates Therapists do not diagnose, nor suggest that they replace Physiotherapy, Osteopathy, Chiropractic treatment or medical treatment of any kind. However, they do have additional skills equipping them to support these practitioners when they are ready to refer them on for Pilates practice.

Mary's story:
Mary had been suffering with neck, shoulder and back pain for some years. She visited a chiropractor regularly to have a "reset", but the discomfort always gradually returned. Her 10 week Pilates Therapy programme began with massage and release techniques to down-regulate the tense muscles. We then started to work on re-educating some everyday movement patterns to avoid the tension building up again and then building strength levels.
Mary now knows how to listen to her body and move and breathe well to prevent the build up of muscle tension and has strategies to deal with it if it does. The fear she had of doing something that would "put her back out" and made her fearful of some movements has greatly reduced and she hasn't had to visit a chiropractor for over two years.
Mary says: " [Ely has an] ability to completely engage with me and inspire confidence allowing me to believe that I can make changes and challenge myself and continue to make improvements in my daily life.
